2x-ist Mens Underwear Brand Profile

Underwear Men:

Following on from my earlier profile of Andrew Christian, I’ve decided to focus on another of my favourite mens underwear brands – 2x-ist, who have been creating unique and stylish underwear for men for 20 years.

Underwear Men

2x-ist is based in New York, and have been since they began life in 1991. They were founded by legendary designer Gregory Sovell, who’s restless creativity helped establish them as a pioneering male underwear brand.

In 2005, Sovell left to 2x-ist and founded a new underwear brand called C-IN2. Following this, Jason Scarletti took over as 2x-ist’s creative director. Scarletti is a busy man, who combines is job as creative director with regular US TV appearances and club and theatre shows as a comedian and entertainer.

Since they were founded in 1991, 2x-ist have become an underwear brand synonymous with forward thinking, cutting edge mens styles and fashions. Their main focus is on innovative designs which offer comfort, support and style, featuring contoured front pouches to achieve this. In their own words, their main objective is to ‘create fashion forward designs to fit men’s lives’ – meaning they strive for perfection to provide highly stylised and superior quality mens underwear for everyday wear and enjoyment.

2x-ist are therefore always pushing the boundaries of male underwear, creating unique, innovative and exciting new ranges by constantly experimenting with new blends of fabrics and materials.

2x-ist were also perhaps the first brand to really advance the design and production of mens underwear using new technological innovations, like ‘No Show’ materials and enhancing underwear.

Amongst the many memorable additions to the underwear market 2x-ist have made are the aforementioned ‘No Show’ briefs and trunks, which provide comfort and style without anyone noticing, as well as their vast range of male enhancement underwear. This comes in the form of their Form, Shape and Contrast ranges, which all provide a different enhancing feature – whether its showing off an improved overall figure or enhancing your best assests!

These inventive and high fashionable ranges are some of the most interesting and striking items currently on the market – and all conform to 2x-ist’s main objective of providing excellent support and protection in fantastically stylish boxers and briefs.

Under the stewardship of Jason Scarletti, 2x-ist have continued the restless creativity that defined them, and now commit to releasing brand new collections bi-anually every Spring and Winter.

With their track record, I for one can’t wait to see what innovations come next from this forward thinking mens underwear brand.

Man Underwear:

Mens underwear is an underrated and ignored part of mens fashion. Whereas outerwear gets all the attention, underwear is relegated to the barely-mentioned levels. However, just because it is usually hidden away doesn’t mean a man’s choice of underwear can’t have an influence on his overall style and confidence. The important role underwear can play is reflected in the wide range of different styles and fashions now available in the mens underwear market. The market is always progressing and developing, with major brands like Calvin Klein and Emporio Armani constantly updating their range.

Man Underwear

Although there is never much variation in products and designs within the world of mens underwear, every now and then a new style comes along to shake things up – and this season is no different, with the introduction of camoflauge underwear to the market by two of its biggest brands, Diesel and Emporio Armani.

Diesel was founded in 1978 by Renzo Rosso and has grown over the last decade into one of the most recognisable fashion brands in the world. Diesel has only recently entered the underwear market but is already becoming one of the leaders in terms of fashion and quality.

The Diesel collection of Camo print underwear for the Autumn/Winter 2011 season features their own uniquely designed camouflage print in a range of colours, from shocking pink to subtle purple boxers and traditional ‘army’ camouflage. The distinctive designs are typical of Diesels tactic of making very ‘noticeable’ products that are hard to ignore.

Their cotton rich, comfortable and fashionable items are all designed with a contoured front pouch for maximum comfort and an athletic fit. Also, coming from Diesel you can be assured of their usual quality and durability.

The Emporio Armani range keeps things a bit more simple, but is underpinned by great attention to detail and quality. The blue design comes in both stretch trunks and briefs, which both feature the branded elastic waistband with the Emporio Armani eagle motif.

The Emporio Armani range also includes a traditional ‘army’ camouflage version and is designed to provide comfort and support – specially cut to sit low on the hips for a contemporary look. Emporio Armani have only released their camo range as a limited edition though, so if you like the look of them you need to act fast!

These great new ranges of mens underwear are a great addition to the market and, coming from two of the big players, are proof that mens underwear is a big part of mens fashion.

In today’s world men have choices for everything and what kind of underwear they wear are no exception. Another major change in men’s underwear is the fabric. All of the following are now easily found in cotton, polyester or silk blends. The reign of wool long johns has been over for a long time.

Briefs have a prominent elastic waistband that sits at the waist. Briefs have a Y-shaped front fly and around four inches of fabric that covers everything from the waist to the upper thighs to full coverage of the butt. Briefs provide exceptional support for the genitals. They are favored by men whose job require sitting all day. Boxers are the classic men’s underwear. They are the loosest and arguably the most comfortable of all styles. Boxers can vary in length but they cover part of the thigh and the entire butt. Boxers usually have a working front fly. Boxers do well in loose fitting pants. They offer very little genital support and are a poor choice for physical activities. Boxers are known for their patterns and design versatility.

Men Underwear

Boxer briefs are the middle ground between boxer and brief. They are cut like boxers but fit tightly like briefs. Their advantage is they provide quality support while having the look of wearing a boxer. Boxer briefs are very popular with women who tend to prefer them to other styles.

These are the three most popular styles of men’s underwear. Men will argue about which style is the best until the cows come home. Only you and your body can determine which style best suits you.
